A little Christmas cheer is on the way, Wilmington.
Blitzen, located at 220 W. 9th St. in Wilmington, reopens for the holidays this year on Friday, November 11.
The brainchild of creative director Dallas Shaw, Blitzen is a fan-favorite in Delaware. Shaw and her team have worked day and night leading up to this year’s grand opening to ensure it’s more magical than ever before. They’ve done the same each year since Blitzen’s opening to transform and expand the space, offering a unique experience every Christmas season. They even managed to bring some holiday spirit to Wilmington in 2020 amid COVID-19 restrictions by adding an additional next-door area and a back patio into Blitzen the reindeer’s home.
This year, Shaw’s vision is taking her even further—all the way to Scranton, PA, to open a second location and spread even more Christmas cheer.

Each year’s rendition has offered a bit of change as the visual story has grown and developed. “You get to come into [Blitzen’s] house a bit further,” Shaw says. She always fills the space with a stunning array of antique items, personalized Blitzen décor and more.
Blitzen Bar acts as a visual experience. You’ll be welcomed into Blitzen’s off-season den and invited to stay a while. If you take a moment to look around you’ll see how Blitzen really feels about leading up the back of the pack for all of these years.
Shaw and her team have worked to develop inventive food and cocktail menus, including favorite holiday flavors like spiced apple cider, warming cinnamon, toasted marshmallow and more.
Each year, patrons love being able to purchase exclusive Blitzen merchandise like flannel shirts and cozy blankets.
The popular pop-up bar also offers reservations for private parties and fundraising events. More information on these options can be found online.
Blitzen will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to midnight through Dec. 24 in Wilmington. Scranton’s location will be open on the same days from 5 p.m. to midnight.
