Something new is brewing in Wilmington’s Forty Acres.

Ciro Forty Acres, a brunch and breakfast spot, opened on Thursday, July 24, in Wilmington. Located at 1836 Lovering Ave., the new eatery takes the spot of De La Coeur Café et Pâtisserie which announced its permanent closure in May.

The new restaurant is owned and operated by Chef Michael DiBianca and General Manager Venu Gaddamidi. The two currently run Ciro Food and Drink, a Mediterranean meets New American tapas spot with a robust wine selection, at the Wilmington Riverfront.

DiBianca has been a part of the Wilmington restaurant scene for more than a decade, previously launching Moro restaurant and Satsuma Asian Kitchen & Bar in Wilmington, both now closed.

Gaddamidi says when the Forty Acres location became available, the two jumped at the opportunity to open a new concept centered around brunch and pastries dishes. The pair aim to provide guests with a high quality dining experience, cooking with local produce in partnership with Second Chances Farm.

“Our focus is what’s on your table,” Gaddamidi says.

DiBianca is putting his own spin on classic brunch dishes like the Bistro Benedict made with sunny side up eggs, Canadian bacon and spinach hollandaise. And, the Chicken & Waffles prepared with roasted jalapeño butter and butter bacon maple syrup.

The menu also includes some Mediterranean influence with chickpea hummus and watermelon prepared with feta cheese, baby greens, mint, balsamic and basil oil.

Ciro Forty Acres’ menu also includes lunch dishes, pastries and La Colombe Coffee Roasters coffee drinks.

Gaddamidi says the menu offers something for everything, with dishes perfect for a sit-down brunch or grab-and-go with coffee and a pastry.

Opening a restaurant during a time of pandemic restrictions does add its challenges, but Ciro Forty Acres is prepared with socially distanced tables and outdoor seating, along with welcoming patrons to order their meal and enjoy it at home.

“We’re embracing what we can,” Gaddamidi says.

Ciro Forty Acres will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Gaddamidi says in the future, they hope to offer a dinner menu.
