Chef Danio Somoza-Angel is upping the food truck game with Coastline Craft Kitchen.
Open since July, the truck brings a blend of gourmet flavors with menu items from Somoza-Angel’s two cape region restaurants—Harvest Tide Steakhouse in Lewes and Zoca Modern Mexican Cuisine in Bethany Beach. Both eateries are also still operating for dine-in and take out.
The menu includes items ranging from barbacoa pork tacos and Korean cheesesteaks, to dry-aged steak burritos and Mexican street corn.
“The response since we’ve opened has been great, people really love the menu,” Somoza-Angel says.
Even though the COVID-19 pandemic made some restaurants shy away from new business ventures, Somoza-Angel says opening a food truck made the most sense, and it offers customers a way to still enjoy the food from Harvest Tide and Zoca without being in a restaurant setting.
“I think a food truck has a lot more opportunity because people don’t want to come out and sit down at restaurants,” Somoza-Angel says.
Somoza-Angel also feels that his staff is safer with a food truck as opposed to a restaurant setting, saying they have their distance from customers. Employees always have their masks on when taking orders and customers are required to have their masks on when ordering from the truck.
The truck usually frequents The Big Chill Surf Cantina in Rehoboth, as well as Revelation Craft Brewing at Hudson Fields in Milton and Salted Vines Vineyard and Winery in Frankford. Coastline Craft Kitchen’s September schedule and locations can be found on their Facebook page.
Coastline Craft Kitchen is also available for catering events and will also be available on DoorDash whenever they’re at The Big Chill Surf Cantina.
