Doughnut Shop With Cult Following Arrives in Newark

Share

We’re talking doughnuts, not the reality-TV duck hunters. Duck Donuts, which has a cult following in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, opened its first Delaware location at the end of July in the heart of Newark.

The café at 145 E. Main St. is attracting UD students and residents as word spreads about the cake donuts that are served warm and made-to-order.

Customers can decide on glazes like vanilla, chocolate and lemon—or opt for plain—and several toppings, including shredded coconut and, yes, bacon as they watch their doughnuts being made. The shop bills itself as a breakfast and brunch restaurant with other menu items, including muffins, yogurt and coffee.
