Four Ways to Enjoy National Root Beer Float Day

Share

Name two things that taste great together. The first thing that came to mind was probably peanut butter and jelly—but today, let’s switch our focus to one of the more unsung heroes of flavor combinations: the dynamic duo that is ice cream and root beer. Aug. 6 is National Root Beer Float Day, so we’re sharing four tasty ways to enjoy this timeless treat.

1. Sweet Lucy’s

Made with two scoops of Woodside Farm Creamery Ice Cream and drowned in root beer.

3201 Concord Pike, Wilmington

2. Drip Café

Their version comes with a caffeine kick. The Root Beer Espresso Shake is a blend of ice cream, root beer and a splash of espresso.

144 Lantana Drive, Hockessin

3. King’s Homemade Ice Cream

Although it is root beer’s special day, King’s makes their floats with more than just root beer, so get creative and pick a soda flavor of your choice. (We don’t think root beer will mind.)

201 Second St., Lewes, and 302 Union St., Milton

4. Rita’s Water Ice

We think Rita’s Root Beer Float water ice is worth a try. If you still feel like it’s missing something—like, you know, ice cream—add some soft-serve ice cream!
