Cobb salads, vegan lentil chili, apple and ginger smoothies and seitan gyros topped with vegan tzatziki are just a few of the dishes that have made Fresh Thymes Cafe so popular. Focusing on locally farmed and organic foods hasn’t limited the incredible menu, which also includes breakfast specials galore like cinnamon French toast and chocolate chip buckwheat pancakes. Paired with its 1950s retro vibe, this local treasure is hard to resist, especially for those who have voted Fresh Thymes “Best Healthy Fare” for several years. Culinary mastermind Jenn Adams of Fresh Thymes says that winning a Best of Delaware title and attending the party have really helped bring the locals together. “We have met a lot of people in the community through the Best of Delaware Party. It is a nice way to give back to the [people who] support us,” she said. She added that winning the title has provided great exposure for the small business and has contributed to the positive word-of-mouth her business relies on.
Just last year, Fresh Thymes attended the Best of Delaware Party to proudly display why it’s so good at winning. Adams says she served “samples of customers’ favorites such as our black bean brownies, quinoa tabbouleh, raw veggie pasta salad and gazpacho.” Vegans and gluten-free guests who attended the party enjoyed the variety of friendly options, she adds. Among her favorite things about the event was the opportunity to meet other Delaware business owners. “It’s a fun way to celebrate all the hard work each year,” Adams says. She encourages other guests and businesses to attend and shake their stuff with the Best of Delaware at the upcoming party. “It’s a nice way to get out and socialize and see all the great things happening in the first state,” she said. Will Fresh Thymes Cafe make the list again? Winners will be announced in the July issue of Delaware Today and the party will be held on July 30. For more information, visit www.bestofde.com.
