Love a good Surf Bagel breakfast? The local chain will be making its way to Milford to serve up baked goods, sandwiches and more.

Your morning commute just got better with the addition of a toasty bagel, cream cheese and a piping hot cup of coffee.

Surf Bagel announced it will open its first location in Milford. Construction will begin this summer with plans to open before the end of the year.

Surf Bagel’s flagship location is in Lewes with a second location in the Midway Shopping Center near Rehoboth Beach. This will be the third location for the company, which was acquired by SoDel Concepts in 2021.

Known for its authentic—shiny on the outside, soft on the inside—bagels, Surf Bagel also offers a variety of baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, lunch wraps, cheesesteaks and more. The Milford location will feature the same menu.

Plans are to refurbish and renovate the existing store, which was formerly Fur Baby Pet Resort. Once opened, SoDel expects the location will have about 45 employees. The hours will mimic those of the Lewes location: 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“I love Milford and have always wanted to be a part of the community,” says Scott Kammerer, president of SoDel Concepts, in a statement announcing the new location. “Milford has already warmly welcomes us, and we know that the new store will be a big success.”
