This N That Bakery

After working as a banker for 30 years, Tony Schiavoni decided she was ready to turn her cupcake-making skills into a career. So she quit her job and opened This N That Bakery in Newark.

The bakery has only been open for two months, but Schiavoni is already churning out creative new treats left and right. Specialty cupcakes in June included maple bacon, root beer float and orange cream flavors. On an given day, the bakery is stocked with 17 to 20 different kinds of cupcakes.

“I try to think of really different, out-of-the-ordinary flavors,” Schiavoni says.

The brownies, lemon-raspberry ricotta bars and cheesecake sopapilla have been especially difficult to keep on the shelf, she adds.

Stop in this summer for a beach-themed cake—or whatever kind you’re craving, no matter the shape or size, Schiavoni says.
