Check out the new Cellar Door on Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach. The fare is “Southern comfort food” (so say the owners), with Creole and Cajun touches and an emphasis on wine. You’ll find a different gumbo every day, always-fresh Chincoteague oysters, a charcuterie-ish dish (shaved meats with pâté De Champagne, olives, focaccia and Creole mustard) to start. There are Southern-spiced jumbo lump crab cakes with roasted peppers
and citrus Hollandaise, maque choux and lemon basmati rice. And there are classic dishes such as filet mignon au poivre, as well as a wood-fired American Wagyu Kobe strip steak in a demi-glace with roasted mushrooms, and redskin potatoes whipped with Boursin. Welcome, Cellar Door. The state could use more Cajun influence. 227-1004, cellardooronbaltimore.com
