The St. Hedwig’s Polish Festival, held every year at the Wilmington Riverfront in September, had announced that the event was canceled this year due to construction along the Christina River.
Luckily, however, the festival has undergone a slight reboot and the show will go on with a new name, location and dates.
Welcome the Red Clay Valley Sommerfest, which kicks off this Thursday at Greenbank Station, 2201 Newport-Gap Pike in Wilmington.
St. Hedwig Catholic Church has partnered with the Wilmington & Western Railroad and Appleton Catering to bring this event to the masses. Red Clay Valley Sommerfest will be reminiscent of the Polish Festival, minus the carnival rides. (There will be train rides, however.)

Red Clay Valley Sommerfest​
Date: Thursday, July 18-Saturday, July 20 from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
Admission: $5 (train ride is an extra $5)
Parking: complimentary shuttle buses will be running from Prices Corner Shopping Center to Greenbank Station (enter 1815 Newport Gap Pike, Wilmington in your GPS). The event is rain or shine. For updates and announcements, visit facebook.com/RCVSOMMERFEST.
