Ciao, Italia
Harry’s Savoy Grill in North Wilmington is pulling out all the stops for its Tuscan Wine Dinner, so save the date: Aug. 18, 6:30 p.m. sharp. Dine in Harry’s beautiful courtyard. Chef Patrick D’Amico handles the food. Southern Wine and Spirits does the vino. The menu looks like this:
Begin with zucchini flowers stuffed with fish mousse served with chive sauce and a glass of 2010 Terenzuola Vermentino. Move on to red snapper with herb gnocchi and prosciutto with 2008 Teruzzi & Puthod Rondolino Vernaccia di San Gimignano. The main course is an osso bucco of wild boar in natural juices with saffron-truffle risotto and dandelion greens paired with the 2006 Nozzole Chianti Classico Riserva, followed by a salad of petite greens with curls of Parmigianino, fried Talleggio and tomatoes and caramelized figs drizzled with aged balsamic vinegar. You’ll enjoy that with a glass of 2009 Montepeloso a Quo Cabernet Sauvignon-Sangiovese. Need we say more? Call 475-3000 for reservations.

Sippin’ for Society, to benefit the Delaware Chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society also takes place Aug. 18, 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at Deerfield Fine Wines in Newark—so it’s conceivable that you could prepare there for Harry’s, though you probably won’t be able to tear yourself away.
A $10 donation wins you food, wine, live music and prizes. Deerfield will give the tasting. Italian chefs from Monte di Procida, Italy—representing Bella Vista Trattoria and Pizzeria, Lamberti’s Cucina and Café Valentina—will use the fresh, local produce in an appetizer-cooking contest. You get to vote for the people’s choice.
Your participation helps people with Huntington’s Disease, a degenerative brain disorder that leads to loss of cognitive, behavioral and physical control. There is no treatment or cure. The Delaware Chapter helps about 2,900 people affected by HD. And you can help simply by having fun. Call (610) 260-042, or visit hdsa.org . Mangia.

Yet Even More Italia—Kinda
Italy native Stefania Panza, owner of Soffritto Italian Grill in Newark, can bring it.
