1. When nothing but beef will do, there are plenty of options, including Sullivan’s Steakhouse (Wilmington, 479-7970). The restaurant, decorated like a clubby Chicago hotspot from the 1940s, is part of the Del Frisco Restaurant Group, but the chain is choosy about its locations—there are only two in the Philly area.
2. In many respects, Walter’s Steakhouse (Wilmington, 652-6780) has been pleasing steak-lovers for generations. Owner John Walter Constantinou grew up working in the family restaurant, the classic Constantinou’s House of Beef, which was located in Trolley Square.
3. Tonic Bar and Grille (Wilmington, 777-2040) swims in the opposite direction from the space’s former occupant, Deep Blue. There’s a full list of traditional steakhouse options on the menu. Never fear—Tonic also features seafood dishes, including tuna and salmon, as well as a raw bar.
4. Steak is also a star at Redfire Grill & Steakhouse (Hockessin, 235-2600). Tuck into an 8-ounce barrel-cut rib-eye or a 10-ounce pork chop. Add Gorgonzola cream or classic Béarnaise sauce and a side of creamed spinach.
5. Meat-lovers will rejoice at Churrascaria Saudades (Newark, 355-5551), where slow-roasted beef, pork, chicken and lamb are carved tableside.
6–7. Big spenders, meanwhile, like to reward Lady Luck with a juicy steak. They can order fork-tender filets and juicy New York strips at Bonz (Harrington Raceway & Casino, 888-887-5687). At Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, Michele’s (Dover, 857-2120) has a steak-and-chops menu that features a Porterhouse, house-smoked prime rib and a ham pork chop.
8. Expect all the classic accoutrements at 1776 Steakhouse (Rehoboth, 645-9355). On Fridays and Saturdays, enjoy your dry-aged beef with a side of jazz.
