The SoDel Concepts Rehoboth Beach brewpub received four medals from the New York International Beer Competition and was named ‘Delaware Brewery of the Year.’
A Rehoboth Beach brewpub was recently named Delaware Brewery of the Year.
SoDel Concepts’ Thompson Island Brewing Company, located at 30133 Veterans Way in Rehoboth Beach, received silver medals for its Beautiful Pomegranate Kettle Sour, Little Friday Helles Lager and The Shoals, a coffee stout brewed with AWAKE coffee from Swell Joe Coffee in Lewes, from the New York International Beer Competition.
“The competition was stiff at this prestigious event,” Matt Patton, a certified cicerone who directs the beer program for SoDel Concepts’ 12 restaurants in coastal Delaware, says in a prepared statement. “Thompson Island Brewing Company is only a year old, so this is a remarkable honor—and the promise of good things to come.”
Receiving honors for three different styles of beer “demonstrates the skill and innovation of our brewing team and their ability to meet the highest standards,” Patton explains.
Like many restaurants across the state and country, Thompson Island faced the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. But, through it all, the brewpub continues to see success.
“People safely enjoyed themselves in our beer garden and the spacious restaurant,” says Scott Kammerer, president of SoDel Concepts, in a prepared statement. “Many regulars picked up takeout beer and a meal.”
