Home Grown Café

This Main Street mainstay’s take on the classic sandwich can perhaps best be described as cheese with a side of cheese. A blend of cheddar-jack, Asiago, provolone and feta cheese melts into house-baked cheese bread. The sandwich is also served with tomato and basil oil on house-baked bread.

126 E. Main St., Newark • 266-6993

Kelly’s Logan House

Choose from one of five grilled-cheese specialties: the Dirty Bird (smoked turkey, pepper jack, heirloom tomato and chipotle ranch on sourdough); the Smokey Joe (brisket, bourbon barbecue sauce, caramelized onions and provolone on sourdough); the Crabby Grilled Cheese (house-made crab dip and cheddar jack on sourdough); the Caprese (fresh mozzarella, heirloom tomato, fresh basil and balsamic on sourdough) and a grilled ham and Swiss on marble rye.

1701 Delaware Ave., Wilmington • 652-9493

Melt Shop

Melt Shop’s Christiana Mall location has introduced a limited-time triple decker grilled cheese sandwich to celebrate National Grilled Cheese Day. The Notorious CHZ includes cheddar, muenster and pepper jack cheeses, a brick cheddar cheese spread, topped with truffle mayo between three pieces of parmesan crusted bread. Priced at $6.99, get it now through April 30.

228 Christiana Mall, Newark • 317-9077

Pickles & Chip’s
