Wilmington’s fine dining scene is marked by a distinguishing characteristic: It is dominated by owner-operators. In other words, there is not a chain restaurant in the bunch. So each spring, when those restaurateurs team to present City Restaurant Week, they view it as a personal invitation. It’s the equivalent of your neighbor inviting you for dinner. “City Restaurant Week puts spirit in our community, encouraging people to get out, connect with friends and try new restaurants,” says Xavier Teixido, an owner of Harry’s Seafood Grill on the Riverfront. “It highlights the diversity and depth of quality of dining options in our neighborhoods.” Nearly 20 restaurants will offer everything from Thai to Chilean to Italian, and you get to sample the creative cuisine of these fine dining spots with prix-fixe prices of $15 for lunch and $35 for dinner. It all happens April 7-18. Learn more at cityrestaurantweek.com.
