Network Links Healthcare Pros to Patients’ Information
The Delaware Health Information Network, a Dover-based health information exchange established in 1997, enrolls more than 7,000 healthcare professionals in more than 700 Delaware practices and healthcare organizations. In May, DHIN launched the Encounter Notification System that provides automatic electronic information to primary care doctors and other medical staff when a patient has a hospital-based encounter. In July, the DHIN connected 10 additional hospitals in Maryland, becoming the first statewide exchange in the United States to transfer critical patient information across state lines.
St. Francis Named Official Hospital of UD Athletics
St. Francis Healthcare will serve as the official Hospital of University of Delaware Athletics for the next three years. The partnership, brokered by IMG, the university’s multimedia rights partner, coincides with the 90th anniversary of the hospital’s service to Delawareans. The initiative complements an existing collaboration between St. Francis and the university that provides clinical experiences for undergraduate nursing students and post-graduate nurse practitioner students.
