5 Ways to Treat Your Skin Right This Fall

Keep your complexion looking its best as colder temperatures approach.

Fall is just around the corner, which means breaking out cozy scarves and indulging in lots of pumpkin-flavored lattes. It also means more wind and colder temperatures that can cause your skin to fall victim to dryness and irritability. Hillary Reid, owner of Nest Spa & Skincare Boutique in Milton, has worked in the skincare industry for nine years and prides herself on using all-natural products. She shared some tips on how to obtain healthy, glowing skin in the coming chilly seasons.

1. Treat yourself to a facial

Reid recommends a facial at the start of every season, particularly the fall and winter. Add an enzyme peel to remove excess, dead skin cells. Microdermabrasion, which uses tiny exfoliating crystals, is another service Reid suggests.

2. Exfoliate at home

Keeping up with exfoliation post-facial is crucial. Reid’s go-to product is Farmhouse Fresh’s One Fine Day Flawless Face Polish ($25). Specifically targeted for people with dry or sensitive skin, it promotes a replenished, dewy, redness-free complexion.

3. Amp up the hydration

Be sure to follow up any exfoliation with a moisturizer, especially when the temperatures start to drop. Reid recommends the Skincando’s Miracle Cream ($30), an intense hydrating balm for diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.

4. Remember: Oily skin needs moisture, too

Farmhouse Fresh’s Three Milk Ageless Moisturizer ($33) caters to those with oily skin, while Sircuit Skin’s Day Care Moisturizer ($75) is a good fit for normal skin types.

5. Update your makeup routine

Even though summer is ending, it’s important to continue using products that contain SPF.  Reid likes Jane Iredale products for their smooth, weightless coverage and built-in sun protection. She recommends the Dream Tint Tinted Moisturizer ($41) and the Glow Time Full-Coverage Mineral BB Cream ($48).
