Are you and the kids hopping in the car and heading to the beach this weekend? Then be sure to stop by your local bookstore and pick up a copy of “Beach Fun: Poems of Surf and Sand,” John Micklos Jr.’s latest children’s book. The Newark-based author captures everything we all love about the beach, from sandcastles to boardwalk fries.
Although designed for children ages 4–12, the photographs from award-winning photographer Lisa Joy Goodman will make any beach-lover smile.
“I wanted to write a poetry book that offered a child’s-eye view of the magic of a beach visit—capturing the sights, sounds and other sensations,” Micklos says of his work. “This would be a great book for families to share before, during or after a visit to the beach.”
John Micklos Jr. is the author of 25 children’s books, including poetry books, picture books, biographies, and history and social studies titles.
