Cabin fever isn’t typically remedied by getting locked in a room, but Exodus Escape Rooms is an exception.
Located on Main Street in Newark, Exodus Escape Rooms is a unique experience that requires finding clues, solving problems and relying on teamwork to find your way out of a locked room. This is a great opportunity to get family, friends or coworkers together to try something new. (A reservation is required, so be sure to book a room ahead of time.)
Each room has a specific theme, such as “Sherlock Holmes” or “Shawshank Redemption,” and can accommodate different group sizes. Your group is given one hour to escape, so you must work as a team to find clues and piece together a solution before time runs out.
A few things worth noting:
- In some rooms, you and your teammates will be handcuffed together. You must look for the key to unlock the handcuffs before you look for a way to escape the room.
- Each room has a surveillance camera. As your team tears apart the room looking for clues, the staff keeps an eye on you.
- You are permitted to use your cell phone to help solve clues.
- Not everyone is able to escape the room within the hour. If that happens, a staff member will let you out at the end of the hour.
- No prizes are awarded to groups that escape within the hour—just a commendable sense of accomplishment.
