5 Oktoberfest Celebrations Along the Coast

Forget Munich—it’s just as much fun to raise a stein stateside.

 

Get out your lederhosen and dirndls! It’s Oktoberfest time along the Delaware coast.

 

1. Revelation Oktoberfest

Saturday, Sept. 22, 11 a.m.-11:30 p.m.

The festivities start this weekend when Revelation Craft Brewing Company offers brats and pretzels along with its Oktoberfest Lager and Pumpkin Saison. Get a souvenir Revelation Oktoberfest koozies will supplies last.

2. Oktoberfest at Iron Hill

Friday, Sept. 28-Sunday, Oct. 14

The new Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant in Rehoboth will feature a promotion that’s become a tradition at all the locations. The extensive Oktoberfest menu features such dishes as schlachtplatte (a grilled butcher’s plate with cheddar bratwurst, beef knockwurst, smoked pork loin, German-style potato salad, Vienna Red Lager-bacon sauerkraut and beer-mustard sauce) and jaegerschnitzel (pan-fried pork cutlets with herbed spaetzle, haricots verts, roasted mushroom and Wee Heavy Ale sauce). Start with the Oktoberfest eggrolls, which are packed with bratwurst, sauerkraut and cheddar cheese and come with a beer-mustard dipping sauce.

To drink, try the limited-release Oktoberfest on draft. It will be available in cans on Sept. 27.

3. Third Annual Oktoberfest

Thursday, Oct. 4-Sunday, Oct. 7 at Crooked Hammock Brewery

Munich comes to Lewes for four days when servers dressed in traditional German folk garb serve a German-inspired menu. Oktoberfest beers include Schnitzengiggle-Marzen, a crisp lager, and Hoppindorf, a session IPA with experimental South African hops, tangerine and grapefruit peel. The live entertainment includes Rick Arzt, the Clifford Keith Duo and Lower Case Blues, as well as magicians and face-painters for the kids.

4. Oktoberfest at Lewes Canalfront Park

Saturday, Oct. 6, 2 p.m.-6 p.m.

Sponsor Dogfish Head Craft Brewery will create a special brew for this event, which is held under a tent. The annual fundraiser for the Friends of Lewes Canalfront Park also includes Bavarian food, music and dancing. Tickets are $20 for adults before Sept. 15 and $25 after that date. Tickets for kids under 12 are $5.

5. 12th Annual Oystoberfest

Sunday, Oct. 29, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at Fins Fish House & Raw Bar

Big Oyster Brewery, part of Fins Hospitality Group, will debut seasonal craft beer to pair with an all-you-can-eat buffet with German foods, as well as flame-roasted oysters.
