The opening of The Gate House of Lewes like. has been a gourmand’s delight. The bistro is a family affair, run by Gretchen and Chip Gates and sons Taylor and Wilson. Gretchen is a graduate of Cordon Bleu, and Taylor and Wilson are CIA alums. Gretchen handles the front of the house; Taylor and Wilson share the kitchen, which whips up fare like scallops in basil oil with corn, pancetta and tomato jam and almond-crusted mallard duck breast in amaretto jus. 109 W. At the end of Second Street, Oceanside Seafood Market & Deli opened in May in a renovated building next to Striper Bites. The business is owned by Chris Becker, who’s also the proprietor of Jerry’s Seafood. You’ll find crab cakes similar to Jerry’s, but the famous 10-ounce crab bomb is only available at the restaurant. The refrigerated case holds prepared seafood items, such as deviled eggs with crab or shrimp, along with fish that customers can purchase and cook at home. The menu also includes hot dogs for kids.
