Two stores down from Haven Blu, Gypsy Teal (123 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, Lighthouse Station; 829-1589) opened in April. Owner Jody Dumont has sectioned the store with one part devoted to jewelry—which ranges from costume at $10 to $300 and up for designer—body products, fragrances and gifts. She even has a nontoxic nail polish line. The other side features decor for the home, including artwork, frames, furniture and candles. Dumont’s second business, Gypsy Mist, offers design/styling services for events that go beyond tables and chairs. View her shop windows for examples of her work.
An offshoot of a popular Washington, D.C., store, Miss Pixie’s by the Sea is now open in Rehoboth (40 Baltimore Ave.; 226-8171, bythesea.misspixies.com). Expect vintage furnishings, trinkets, art, garden furniture, books and other fun finds. De orate a beach home or simply snag a whimsical souvenir.
In the Lewes area, Enchanted Petals opened earlier this year in Peddlers Village Shopping Center on Del. 24, between Rehoboth and Long Neck (33247 Fairfield Road, Lewes; 827-1011, enchantedfloristde.com). Flowers are a big part of the shop’s wares, yet there’s a little bit of everything, including Mexican Sprite and Coke, made with real sugar. “We’re not your typical flower shop,” says owner Josh Fredo.
You’ll also find bath and body products, essential oils, soup and scone mixes, tea, local artwork and honey. A kettle of water stays warm in case customers want a spot of tea. “We want them to come in and be part of the family,” Fredo says.
