Big Oyster Brewery Now Offers Regular Saturday Tours

Plus, details on a special first-year anniversary celebration.

In the past year since Big Oyster Brewery opened, it has not been unusual for groups of Saturday diners to request a tour of the Lewes operation. But if a brewer was not on site at the same time, patrons were unfortunately out of luck.

But no longer.

“We figured it was time to make tours official,” says Mike Anderson, director of sales and distribution.

Beginning this Saturday, Sept. 8, Big Oyster will hold regularly scheduled Saturday tours at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and noon. Each tour is limited to 10 people, and the $10 ticket cost includes a beer flight.

The timing of the tours’ launch couldn’t be better: Big Oyster is also celebrating its first anniversary this month and will hold a Bull & Oyster Roast to mark the milestone on Sunday, Sept 30.

Anderson says they’ll have a big smoker outside the restaurant. Expect pulled chicken and pork, wings, beef, sides and, of course, oysters. (Putting bivalves on the menu is more than just an homage to the brewery’s name: Big Oyster is owned by the Fins Hospitality Group, whose Fins restaurants are famous for oysters.)

The celebratory roast will take place under the brewery’s backyard tent from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The restaurants loyalty members will have a 10 a.m. access time, and will receive a brewery tour and private tasting, among other perks. Tickets, which can be booked online, are $43 per person. Attendees must be 21; attendance is limited.
