Here’s a welcome return: Buckley’s Tavern is back. After months of renovation, chef Tom Hannum, recently retired from the Hotel du Pont, has created an all-new place that manages to keep the feeling of the old Buckley’s, the Centreville gathering spot known for its harmonious blending of blue blood and blue collar. The menu is full of elegant comfort food—grilled lamb shank with spaetzle, grilled filet mignon with a mix of winter root vegetables—and some classics from Hannum’s previous life. “Everyone who lives out here has eaten at the hotel,” he laughs. Whether ordering from the fine dining menu or the bill of fare for the bar, the emphasis is on fresh and seasonal.—Mark Nardone
