CSC Station Unveils a Mural of Famous Delawareans

The mural, recently installed in the lobby of Wilmington's CSC Station, inspires entrepreneurs in the coworking space to strive for success.

CSC Station is a coworking space in Wilmington, home to startups, nonprofits, growing businesses and entrepreneurs seeking a collaborative space to work and grow. This fall, CSC Station unveiled a “Famous Delawareans” mural in its main lobby to celebrate the impact Delaware has had on the world and inspire the next generation of First State success stories as they arrive to start their workdays.

“We wanted the mural to serve as a daily source of inspiration for our entrepreneurial and business members as they strive for success and aim to contribute to Delaware’s growth.”

—Scott Malfitano, CSC Station

The mural features household names and public figures including actors, athletes, musicians and, of course, the president of the United States. Each person featured has a Delaware connection, whether it’s their birthplace, where they went to school or where they began their career.

Here, Scott Malfitano from CSC Station shares information about the mural and the inspirations behind it.

How did the idea of installing a “Famous Delawareans” mural come about?

CSC Station is a dynamic coworking innovation hub home to a diverse community of entrepreneurs, startups, nonprofits and growing businesses. We wanted the mural to serve as a daily source of inspiration for our entrepreneurial and business members as they strive for success and aim to contribute to Delaware’s growth. There’s always room to add on to the mural, and we look forward to doing so.

How did you choose which famous Delawareans to include?

We collaborated with other state organizations to compile a list of figures that truly represent Delaware’s diverse and vibrant history. From a president of the United States to one of the greatest guitarists of all time, we celebrated the remarkable legacy of our small but exceptional home.

Who created and installed the mural? What did the installation process look like?

CSC’s talented marketing team—and specifically Abigail Peraria (McCloud), who is a senior graphic designer—created the stunning 10.5” x 17” mural for our large atrium. Abigail used black-and-white photographs of the more than 50 prominent people featured, designing the mural to fit cohesively within the CSC Station space and make an impact on viewers upon entrance. This artwork celebrates some of Delaware’s most distinguished individuals, reflecting CSC’s own rich history as a company rooted in Delaware since 1899.

How long did the project take to complete?

The project took approximately a year from start to finish. After coming to terms on the initial group of famous Delawareans to present on the wall, we gathered all the images and rendered them in a high-resolution format. Some of the older images were enhanced using AI. It was truly a labor of love, and we were committed to perfecting every detail to honor all of the Delawareans who paved the way and provided a lifetime of inspiration for others.
