Cure Your Hangovers at Salon LaRoc’s Oxygen Bar in Rehoboth Beach

Don’t start the New Year with a headache–try this 15-minute pop of pleasure

Peter DiRocco and Lauren Lewandowski belly up to their oxygen bar.

If you find yourself in Rehoboth Beach this New Year’s Day—or any other day—with your head pounding from too many Dogfish Heads, go see Peter DiRocco.

The owner of Salon LaRoc on Rehoboth Avenue will fix you right up with his trendy Oxygen Bar. DiRocco and Lauren Lewandowski opened the bar Memorial Day weekend and say it’s been a smashing success.

The bar uses a non-medical oxygen concentrator that produces purified 90 to 95 percent oxygen that is inhaled through plastic tubes. Customers are charged a certain rate per session, which typically lasts 15 minutes. Flavored scents like lavender, mint and even pina colada can be added to enhance the experience. DiRocco, who stresses that the treatments are not intended for medical purposes, favors a concoction for cold and sinus problems.

DiRocco got the idea to open what he calls Delaware’s first oxygen bar from folks who told him they party in Las Vegas for three days at a time without sleep. They claim they can do it with the help of the local oxygen bars. While the salon has served its share of revelers, DiRocco also caters to people who exercise and then stop by for a hit.

As for those who ring in the New Year with ringing in their noggins, DiRocco assured us that the salon will be open Jan. 1.

“I think that’s going to be a home run, don’t you?” he says with a laugh.
