Delaware Today 302 First: Doing More Good with Kay's Kamp

Kay’s Kamp gives kids ages 5-17, who are battling cancer or are in remission, a chance to attend a free, weeklong camp on the grounds of St. Andrew’s School in Middletown.

The idea of Kay’s Kamp was created by Kaylyn Elaine Warren, who was diagnosed with Leukemia at age 17. Warren passed away in 2007, but her dream of running a bed and breakfast turned into opening a camp for children who suffer from cancer. Friends and family took the idea from there and established a nonprofit foundation in Warren’s memory.

The first Kay’s Kamp was held in August 2009. This year’s camp, which begins June 23, is called Starship Kay’s Kamp and will carry an outer space theme.
