Delaware Today magazine 302 First: And Doing More Good is Andrea Levine Designs in Wilmington

Diamond in the Ruff

Andrea Levine of Wilmington was inspired by her passion for her pets to create a luxury line of dog- and cat-themed diamond jewelry. In 2003, she opened what would become Andrea Levine Designs and began creating and selling necklaces, charms and bracelets.

But the energetic Levine wanted to do more for her furry friends, so she began helping animal-centric charities. Her first donation was a gold and sapphire necklace to be auctioned to benefit an Animal Planet Relief event after 9/11. “I do this because I really love it and it does my heart good,” she says.

Her creations have landed more than $1,000 apiece to help nonprofits that aid animals. She is now looking for a cause for dogs that help children with autism. “I think animals are very therapeutic,” she says. “They help people in need and in times of need.”  —D.O.
