Christy Hamer was an at-home mom with a creative streak that needed to come out.
With plenty of experience in retail, this fashionista felt it was time that Rehoboth had a place for hip women to shop to find unique goods.
Six years later, that urge manifested itself as an eclectic, happy, energetic women’s boutique called Hula Sue.
Nestled down a cozy lane in Rehoboth Beach called “Village by the Sea,” this tiny gem of a store, with its blonde wood floor and highly edited merchandise feels very upscale—LA meets the beach—with the shop owner looking oh so lovely and trés cool!
“I wanted to bring something different and creative to this area,” says Hamer. “Women at the beach want easy, fun pieces, but don’t want to look like everyone else.”
Looking around the store I can see she has hit the right cord of funky-casual with a feminine twist!
“If I had made any mistakes it was that I took the store too seriously,” Hamer says. “I learned fast and now I keep things simple. I love ‘girlie’ so that is what you find here.”
For fall she has brought in skinny jeans, leggings, and classic looks with a twist of feminine (think lace meets rocker). A lot of it is in the details, for instance this black military jacket with plenty of ruffles.
Here you will see “jeggings” (a jean that is really a legging) and colorful long tops and soft, thin sweaters with lush, fluid details.
Her accessories are well priced with plenty of clunky necklaces and bracelets to finish off the looks.
