Dogfish Head to Host a Five-Course Beer Dinner on Nov. 14

Beer dinners are super trendy right now, so how do you decide which one to commit to? If one promises an intimate chat with a brewer and author, plus a stellar menu and beer pairings, the only thing left to do is purchase a ticket, grab a friend and go.

On Thursday, Nov. 14, from 6:30-9 p.m., Chesapeake & Maine is hosting Drink Beer Eat with brewing ambassador Bryan Selders and nationally renowned journalist and author Joshua M. Bernstein about the ever-changing universe of craft beer. Together, they will speak in-depth about various industry trends and guide diners through a five-course sensory experience. Bernstein will share points from his new book, “Drink Better Beer,” and Selders will explain how consumers’ drinking preferences impact his decisions as a brewer. Each of the five small plates served will be paired with one of Dogfish Head’s beers.

Tickets are $50 per person and include five small plates, five pre-selected beer pairings, one beer-cocktail pairing and a copy of Bernstein’s new book. The menu is as follows:

Course 1: Buffalo monkfish bites with diced celery and house-made ranch dressing
Pairing #1: 90 Minute IPA
Pairing #2: Horkin’ Heapload 

Course 2: Indian Brown Ale stuffed mushrooms with bell pepper, Chapel Hill-aged cheddar cheese and herbs
Pairing: Indian Brown Ale 

Course 3: Ocean City seared scallops over a fall orchard salad with roasted butternut squash, honey crisp apples, pickled red onion, almond, goat cheese, shallot and honey vinaigrette
Pairing: American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA 

Course 4: Wild Maine blueberry cobbler with house-churned vanilla ice cream
Pairing: Right Loose 

Course 5: Caramel Smith Island Cake
Pairing: Suddenly Pals
