The Kindel Company is furniture licensee for Winterthur, which means it makes beautiful reproductions of Queen Anne, Chippendale, Federal and Empire furniture for the museum’s collection.
“Many of the originals are on floors of the mansion not toured by the first time visitor, and yet are some of our most beautiful furniture forms,” says Kristin L. DeMesse, Winterthur director of licensed products.
Arranging furniture at Winterthur is one thing. But how does one choose the appropriate piece for the home? “Our team can help integrate any Kindel-made Winterthur reproduction or adaptation seamlessly into an existing decor,” says Joyce Keeney of Interior Concepts in Hockessin.
The reproductions are produced in 11 wood finishes in a variety of sheens, as well as in 18 painted finishes with standard and aged appearances.
Purchasing a Kindel reproduction could prove to be a worthwhile investment.
“Several of the important pieces had mates that sold at auction for record breaking prices,” says Kindel marketing director Amy B. Wolbert. “Our artisans are able to execute the details of the important originals that Mr. du Pont collected.”
