Donald Stephens was one of Eleanor Roosevelt’s many friends. They may have met when Stephens worked for the Resettlement Administration, one of Roosevelt’s favorite New Deal agencies, in Washington, D.C. The two corresponded often between the 1930s and early 1960s. Stephens frequently asked Roosevelt to take action to help some person or cause in need. Roosevelt often acted on his requests. Here, Roosevelt is flanked by Donald and Frank Stephens.
