Celebrity chef Anne Burrell doesn’t recall much about her one and only visit to Delaware, but she does recall it as a darned good time.
“I went for a weekend to a crab boil back in culinary school,” she says. “All I remember is looking out on the water, smashing crabs, getting dirty and drinking beer with friends. What could be better than that?”
Visit two promises to be different—and just as memorable. Burrell, the spiky blonde hostess of the Food Network’s hit series “Worst Cooks in America,” will bring her big personality to the DuPont Country Club April 30 as host of the Celebrity Chefs’ Brunch benefit for Meals on Wheels Delaware. The event features fine food by more than 25 acclaimed chefs, from locals Tom Hannum of Buckley’s Tavern and Hari Cameron of a(MUSE.) to Jeffrey Osaka of Osaka Ramen and Sushi-Rama in Denver, Colo.
“I’m very excited to meet everyone,” Burrell says. “We’re all friends. We just don’t all know it yet.”
Can’t wait to meet Burrell in Delaware? “Please, please, please,” she says, make the drive to Brooklyn to visit her new Phil & Anne’s Good Time Lounge—the first restaurant the TV star will have worked in since 2008 and the first she has owned.
