Fork + Flask Debuts Adventurous Dining Series

The Rehoboth restaurant has launched a summer-long ‘Culinary World Tour.’

Local realtor Michael Moreland appreciates when Fork + Flask at Nage thinks outside the box. The Rehoboth Beach restaurant is mostly known for contemporary American cuisine.

Early in the week, however, Moreland has often ordered ethnic cuisine off the eatery’s special menu.

“Having spent time traveling internationally, I really enjoy it when our local places expand their culinary diversity,” Moreland says. He visits the restaurant on Tuesdays for “industry night,” which is geared toward employees in area restaurants, hotels, spas and salons.

“[The employees] work so hard that we give them 50 percent off our entire food menu,” says Sean Corea, Fork + Flask’s executive chef.

But the appeal of industry night, typically held on Tuesdays, goes beyond the discount. Fork + Flask has invited guest chefs to prepare their dishes in the restaurant or collaborate on themed menus that every diner can order if they wish.

The ethnic cuisine has been a big hit. “Hari Cameron [of a(MUSE.)] and I did an Ethiopian night, which was probably our busiest industry night,” Corea says. “We try to do a cuisine that’s difficult to find at the beach.”

The positive response from diners like Moreland gave Corea the idea for a “Culinary World Tour,” which showcases a different cuisine every Tuesday through August. Up next, on June 5, is Korean food. On June 12, you can explore the Philippines.

Corea says he selected some cuisines because of employee connections. One staff member’s wife is Filipino, for instance.

The special menu, available from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., includes up to six dishes. (And if you’re not feeling particularly adventurous, the regular menu remains available.)
