Style juxtaposition:
My style is classic but unique. I am drawn to color and [pieces] not everyone has, but I think I [wear them] in a tasteful way.
Influences from afar:
My biggest fashion influence is travel [abroad]. I had the opportunity to study in Rome…and visit Switzerland, Germany, Spain, and Portugal. So much inspiration comes from the beauty of the architecture. Everything has so much history and looks so rich and inspires you to elevate your fashion.
Something borrowed:
Everyone has a certain style about them [that’s inspired by] where they live. As the buyer at Casual Marketplace [in Hockessin], I travel to trade shows and love seeing how everyone dresses so differently. I like taking bits and pieces from people and places I have gone and incorporating it into my style.
Fun fashion era:
I like the Roaring ’20s because it was a lot of glam and over-the-top accessorizing. While I would not say I am over the top, I do love my accessories.
Style icons:
There’s not [just] one person I admire for their fashion. I enjoy seeing what people come up with in their everyday life. …It’s so fun to see the same things on different people or how people accessorize differently. Simple things can make each outfit look so completely different.
Signature piece:
A gold necklace with my Italian horn—I’ve worn it on a daily basis since I got it when I was in my early teens. I [rarely] trade it out. … It is kind of a running joke that I always have it on. [But] so does everyone in my family.
Wardrobe staples:
Shoes, bags, and black. Black, you can spice it up with some colorful shoes or a specific handbag. I love Rebecca Minkoff, [whose] mini crossbody bag has been my go-to for years. It is just big enough to fit what you need…and has tassels, buckles, and leather that add a bit of edge. Vince Camuto and Sam Edelman shoes are comfortable and stylish and still luxe without the premium designer price tag.
You never leave home without:
My purse—which [holds] a lip product, sunglasses, my phone, wallet, and keys. Basically, everything I need.
Sartorial regrets:
I grew up in the early 2000s when layering was super popular—and not cute layers, but like the camisoles over long sleeves… usually paired with plaid Bermuda shorts. Thankfully, there are very few pictures to document this.
A person is stylish…
If they can take what is flattering on them and put their own spin on it while still keeping up somewhat with current trends. It doesn’t have to be fancy or overdone. I think a pair of jeans with the right top and shoes can be super stylish.
Minimalista:
My beauty routine is minimal—only 10 minutes. I have a 2-year-old, so there isn’t a lot of time to get ready. I do love makeup, though. I look forward to occasions where a more dramatic eye look is appropriate.
Let’s go shopping:
I love all the little boutiques at the beach.
