Do you have a lot of great stuff or too much of it?
Recycling your wardrobe is the latest craze in going green. Not only will you save money, but you can also feel good knowing that it will be helping someone in need.
That is just the idea behind a new shop called Great Stuff Savvy Resale, which is a clever new way of fundraising for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.
The manager, Dale Maahs (yes, that Dale from the former Dale’s Shoetique), is now in charge and has done a fabulous job of creating a clean, fresh atmosphere for reselling your beautiful things!
I recently stopped in and found that Dale and her staff have created a lovely setting filled with upscale, one-of-a-kind, gently worn items as well some antiques.
“We just opened in October and hit the ground running,” says volunteer Pam Hague. “We have such a great cause and people want to give back.”
She went on to tell me how recently a client came in and bought a beautiful jacket and the next day she came back with a set of plates to donate. The woman said, “I am enjoying my purchase so much, I wanted to give back, too!”
So how does it work? The community outreach is set up so you bring in your clothes as a donation. One hundred percent of the net profit goes back into Delaware programs. Any items that can’t be used will be given to other charities.
You can bring in your donations Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., or by appointment. They accept donations that are gently worn and upscale.
Just think what a wonderful feeling you will have by getting your closet cleaned out and also knowing that it’s all going to charity! This is definitely a win-win for all involved!
