When it comes to fall décor, it’s all about balance. The goal is to bring the spirit of autumn in while keeping the crisp and chilly air out. As a result, your home becomes a cozy escape to embrace the fall season away from the cold.
Local designer Kelley Gable of Gable Interiors, which offers design services in Delaware and Maryland, offers her top three fall décor tips to help you—and your home—prepare for the season. Get ready for evening bonfires, fresh-baked pumpkin pie, flannel shirts and all the comforts of the harvest season. With these tips, your home will become a comfy oasis to escape the cold after all your favorite fall activities.
1. Add Texture & Prints
Fall brings all things texture—and we are here for it! Think cozy throw blankets with handwoven designs, boucle furnishings, and patterned pillows in prints like gingham—ooh la la! We love to layer all these beautiful textures together for a dynamic in-home experience as the seasons change.

2. Embrace Warm Fall Tones
We will never not talk about color! With color, we like to think about bringing the outdoors in for the fall season. This doesn’t always mean incorporating bright reds and oranges that may not blend well within your home (but if that’s your vibe, then embrace it)—at Gable Interiors, however, we tend to gravitate to earthy tones this season that blend seamlessly within your home’s existing color palette. Colors like chocolate browns, taupe, mossy greens, and deep blues really speak to us this time of year.

3. Complement Your Fall Décor With Autumn Scents
Fall scents are unlike any other season in our opinion. The aroma of a smoky campfire meets notes of leather and hints of clove—I mean, does it get any better? It sets the mood for the change of the season within your home. Here are a few home scents for fall that not only smell amazing but are aesthetically pleasing for your home or make a great gift.
