The Portrait Club by Kelli Wilke captures the relationships between pets and their owners in Bark: Dogs & Their Humans.
Most people who have owned a dog can agree there is something special about the relationship between a pup and their person. Whether they’re cheering you up when you’re down, helping you get some much-needed time outdoors or calming your stress with their antics, dogs play a huge part in their humans’ lives. That’s why this year, the Portrait Club by Kelli Wilke is embarking on a mission to capture that relationship through a camera lens and her book, Bark: Dogs & Their Humans.
“People are so much more relaxed when they’re with their dogs,” the fine-art photographer says. “It’s very fun to capture because it’s such an unconditional love.”
The best part? It’s all to raise money for Faithful Friends Animal Society, a nonprofit animal welfare organization in Wilmington that includes a no-kill shelter and a community veterinary clinic.
To learn more or to participate, canine parents can visit bark.kelliwilke.com. The entire $100 participation fee goes to Faithful Friends, and gets you an hour-long photo shoot and a print of you and your dog in the book.
