Celebrating the 10th anniversary of its re-opening, this arts and culture structure has maintained its presence at South and Main streets since 1869.

Currently celebrating the 10th anniversary of its re-opening, this structure has stood sentinel on the corner of South and Main streets since 1869. Among those who have appeared on its stage were noted abolitionist Frederick Douglass, presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan, entertainers General Tom Thumb and Ada Gilman and suffragettes Grace Greenwood, Lucy Stone and Olive Logan. The opera house offers an eclectic mix of musical acts, theater and comedy events from September to May. Especially popular is the talent competition “Smyrna’s Got Voice.” (smyrnaoperahouse.org)
