I’m probably the last person to throw out a sports analogy in relation to things connected to this magazine, but I’ll make an exception in this case: Nothing matters more to what you see in these pages than the team behind it—the people responsible for bringing them to life in words and design. Although it’s my face you see introducing each issue, it’s the talented team I work with that pulls together a consistently excellent publication.
And while there are dozens of people in various departments that make this magazine a reality every month, the members of the editorial team are the ones that give Delaware Today its personality—that spark that helps you know we really care about what’s happening in the state and we’re actually having some fun telling you about it.
I’ve been in the executive editor role for nearly a year now, and I’ve been fortunate to work with exceptionally talented people since the moment I walked in the door. But lately, if you’re the sort of reader who pays attention to the names on the masthead, you’ve probably noticed some changes in who’s bringing you this magazine each month.
First, allow me to introduce you to Ashley Breeding, our new senior editor. Ashley comes to Delaware Today with an impressive resume that includes work with the Gannett publishing and Palm Springs Life magazine in California’s high desert. In addition to contributing to what you read every month in Delaware Today, Ashley is also the new editor of 302Health and our rebranded wedding magazine Weddings Today. Her years of experience with the magazine world combined with her Delaware upbringing and perspective as someone who’s lived outside the state will help her bring a fresh take on many of the stories we have to tell.
Joining us most recently is Meg Ryan, our new associate editor. Meg comes to us from Delmarva Now in Salisbury, Maryland, where she contributed to news, entertainment and trends coverage both in print and online. Meg will be handling our Savor and Culture sections in the magazine, and she will also write the Dining Insider blog on our website, keeping our readers abreast of news in the dining world of Delaware. You’ll be seeing more of their faces around the state and their work in the pages of the magazine, as well as online. They have a tremendous role in what the magazine will become as we continue to evolve and update both our look and our coverage of the First State to make Delaware Today an even more indispensable part of your life.
