Olivia Rubini Is a Music and Style Star in Delaware

Olivia Rubini’s singing and signature style catapulted her into the top 20 on ‘The Voice’ season 25.

Style Sense

Edgy, vintage “rock star” glam with hints of retro whimsy.

Did you have a fashion voice on “The Voice”?

Absolutely. We were able to create mood inspiration boards for our stylists every performance round and then had fittings with them to work through multiple potential looks. I had so much fun with this part of my experience on [the show]. I felt like they captured my vision. I also loved that they allowed me to wear my clothes for on-camera rehearsals with the coaches. That was special to me.

Lessons learned

Be eye-catching. Be glam. Take chances. I loved all the outfits I wore, and I felt super confident in them. The outfits helped me embrace my persona, making me feel very powerful and ready to take on my performances. I’ve taken this mentality with me as I style my outfits for current shows.

Fashion influencers

My current celebrity style inspiration is, without a doubt, Victoria De Angelis, the bass player from the band Måneskin. Her style exudes so much confidence and pure energy while feeling effortless.

Source of inspiration

A lot comes from ’70s fashion and that old-school, glam rock ’n’ roll look. I get inspired by thrifting for pieces with a lot of character.

Prized possession

The oldest item in my closet is this incredibly worn, brown, zip-up leather jacket I got from an amazing thrift store called Yes Baby! Vintage in Los Angeles. The leather is cracked and peeled, and there are even some pretty large rips that I need to get fixed, but I just had to have it. It is full of character and has seen so much life with many different owners.

Statement piece

I usually wear a ring on almost every finger, most of which are family heirlooms. [They] make me feel like my family is right there with me—especially when I’m onstage performing.

How the West was worn

I love that everyone is embracing cowboy boots. I love them paired with a feminine outfit to give the whole look a bit of edginess.

Here to stay

No one can take my bell-bottoms away! They’re so flattering and immediately give any outfit a retro twist.

Wouldn’t be caught dead wearing…

Capris.

Never leave home without…

Perfume. My current go-to is Orabella’s Salted Muse mixed with Vince Camuto’s Bella.

Mane minimalista

I get cuts and trims from my hairstylist, Mel Iannotta, at Head Case Studio every few months to keep the shag cut looking fresh and layered. Sometimes, I’ll give myself a little blowout for special occasions and performances, but for day-to-day, I let it air dry after running some texturizing/curl cream through my hair.

Self-care standards

I am a total advocate for self-care practices. I love a full nighttime routine of relaxation. My favorite self-care indulgence is an extensive body care routine, like dry brushing and using different lotions and body oils—and a great hydrating face mask after my K-beauty skin care routine.

Stage presence

My performing style is pretty over the top, whether a full-on, head-to-toe sequin outfit or big thigh-high boots with an oversized faux fur coat. I wear things that make me stand out onstage, look fantastic in photos, give me lots of freedom to move, and make me feel powerful and confident. For daily wear, I keep a lot of those same stage-wear elements, such as fun prints and big boots while opting for more structured pieces, including suit jackets and leather paired with slinky blouses for lots of texture. I love combining aspects of femininity/masculinity and modern edgy/retro elements in my outfits by mixing different textures, prints, and accessories.

Compliment catchers

My jackets and coats. I have a lot of vintage leather and some vintage faux fur that always receive a lot of love when I wear them. My vintage black leather biker jacket—handed down from my dad—always gets lots of compliments. That’s a huge reason why fall and winter are my favorite fashion seasons.
