Miller-Lacy has watched the revolving door while working in alternative placement for young women. She wanted to create a solution similar to “the village” that helped her become the woman she is today.

“They need what I had,” she explains. That’s how her organization, I Am My Sister’s Keeper, was created. What started as a tea party with 15 people is now in its fourth program year with more than 200 in attendance. The nonprofit provides leadership development, rites of passage and entrepreneurial skills training for girls ages 12 to 18.

Miller-Lacy has seen multiple success stories through her work and wants the organization to continue growing.  This year she launched MSK Next Generation Confidence Club for girls ages 6 to 11 years old. The future of MSK is to open a school. Her biggest piece of advice to the younger generation?  “To be authentic,” she says.
