Owner, Petite Yogi

Courtney Loughney found yoga in college—or maybe it found her. She quickly fell in love with yoga, so much so that she fulfilled the rigorous requirements needed to earn her instructor certification. She also earned her master’s degree in special education and established a career as a child behavioral specialist.
After having her own children, Loughney suffered from postpartum depression. That was in 2010, and at the time, she couldn’t find any mom-and-baby yoga classes in Wilmington. So, in 2013, she launched Petite Yogi, first teaching at The Birth Center in Newark.
“I wanted to create a healing community with other moms,” Loughney says. “Yoga is about breathing, moving and getting back into your body, which is what we need. We also talk about incontinence, painful sex and other topics that aren’t widely discussed.” By 2018, Loughney had seven employees and was teaching in 30 locations, including community centers and private and public schools.
