Owner, Web & Social Media Designer
“I was a jack-of-all-trades, master of none,” Heather Cox say of her career, which ran the gamut from a certified nursing assistant to dining, law and chiropractic work.
Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, Cox decided to fulfill her destiny. Transforming her blog, which focused on “finding your own path in life, love and career,” into a full-service web design business she is an impressive one-woman operation.
Largely self-taught, Cox builds and maintains websites for clients, optimizing them for the ever-changing digital landscape. “Web and social media design is a constant learning experience. There are new trends every year, new algorithms,” says the Newark resident. “You have to keep up with all of those changes in regard to web design or your website will look old, outdated.”
Thanks to foresight, Cox was on the cutting edge of social media branding. “It was all about becoming connected,” she says. “Before that, there really was not a way [for companies to directly] be connected [to consumers].”
Today, Cox also manages a range of social media outlets for clients like Miss Delaware USA and Miss Delaware Teen USA, and many restaurants. When the pandemic struck, she worked with them to create user-friendly resources, like contactless menus, curbside pickup options and online gift cards.
