Planning Delaware’s Latino Summit 2018 was a huge opportunity—and risk. When Saborio was hired as the event planner in April, she had only six months to organize the 700-person summit at the Chase Center in Wilmington. “But it felt like my moment,” Saborio remembers. “It was a cause I support and an opportunity that I wanted to seize.”

That she did. Saborio’s event was such as a success that she was hired to plan the 2020 summit. The experience launched her Magnolia-based marketing firm into the stratosphere. She landed other marketing gigs, including with Independent Resources Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides life skills training, advocacy support, career counseling and other services to Delawareans with disabilities.

Saborio developed a marketing strategy that enabled IRI to expand from its bases in New Castle and Kent counties into Sussex. Working with minorities and disabled populations is incredibly rewarding for Saborio. That said, she doesn’t divide the world into categories. She wants to foster business opportunities for everyone.

“Don’t let anyone define who you are and what you can do,” she advises. “When I doubt my gut, I fail. When I listen to my gut, I succeed.”
