Stacy LaMotta loves food, wine and music so much that she made it her job. The founder and organizer of the Southern Delaware Wine, Food & Music Festival, LaMotta made a name for herself hosting the Delaware beaches event every September. This year, the pandemic put the celebration on pause.
“I did a lot of soul-searching, a lot of looking into outdoor venues and different ideas. But the whole goal behind my event is to raise money for nonprofits, and with so many businesses in hardship and restaurants in hardship, I didn’t see it fair to be asking for anything from them,” she explains.
But the event planner didn’t waver: LaMotta is already working on the 2021 festival and has a secret event on her calendar for this spring. She’s also continued to help other businesses and individuals plan events through Creative Coastal Events and still teaches exercise classes virtually or socially distanced through her Healthy Renovations venture.
The hardest part of her job is staying creative year after year. But, while it’s the most challenging, it’s also the most rewarding. “That’s what makes me tick. That’s a passion. I have to really change it up and make it bigger, better,” she says.
