Not resting on their laurels after the whirlwind that was the U.S. Open, Merion Golf Club has a lot of things in store for its members, who are glad to have their course back after sharing it with the world. “We’re extremely busy and think this year will be busier than last year,” says head golf professional Scott Nye. “Our events calendar is packed with new and exciting events, and we have a membership that’s ready to enjoy having the club back, including the recently renovated practice range.” A new pavilion is currently under construction, and Merion installed drainage, irrigation and nine inches of sand capping to the downrange portion of the practice range. “We also transitioned the hitting surface to Bermuda grass,” says Nye, “so it grows back faster and provides better turf conditions throughout the year.”
