The couple resided in Italy for two years where they explored and recorded everything in a blog. Rosemary did the writing and illustration and Bob the photography.
Now Connelly has reshaped all the adventure into a fascinating book, Two Years in Italy: How Two Fifty-Somethings Retired and Went to Italy to Live Cheap & Make Art, now available on Amazon in paperback and eBook. “We had been taking vacations to Europe for years,” Connelly says, “and we both wanted to see what it was like living in a different culture.”
They returned to the U.S. in 2007 and settled in Sussex County, although both were born in New York and lived most of their lives in Arizona. Bob died in 2015, but not before the couple became active in Milford’s social and cultural community.
A noted artist and teacher, Connelly operates Live Cheap & Make Art Studios and will return to Italy this spring to take art students on a sojourn to one of her old haunts—Umbria—before returning to her ancestral home in Italy for a month.
