Summer 2013 Beach Dining Guide: Waterfront Restaurants

There’s nothing better in this world than having a sip and a bite by the water, and Dewey Beach’s Hammerheads and Hammerhead’s Dockside offer all three.

“I grew up in Ocean City, where you could go just about anywhere by boat and have a drink on the water,” says George Bendler, who owns Hammerheads in Dewey Beach. “There aren’t many places in Delaware where you can do that.” Bendler and his partners are changing that with the opening of Hammerheads Dockside on Inlet Road in Delaware Seashore State Park. In addition to offering bayside seating, it has about 10 slips. For those who arrive by land, there is free parking, and Jolly Trolley has made Hammerheads Dockside a new stop on its route. The restaurant will serve breakfast seven days a week. (hammerheadsde.com)
