Many are familiar with the Festival of San Fermín, where oxen and bulls are set free in the streets of Pamplona, Spain on the Saturday that falls between July 7 and 13. The Starboard in Dewey Beach has been hosting an interpretation of this thrill- seeker’s tradition with its very own Running of the Bull.
On July 9, participants decked out in white clothing and red bandanas will gather at The Starboard to meet the “bull.” Don’t worry; it’s just two people in a costume—and it’s a day spent drinking and listening to music. The party starts at 11 a.m., and the Run will officially start at 2 p.m.
This year marks the 20th Running of the Bull. With the help from The Starboard, the Running of the Bull has grown from 35 original runners into an event with participants who travel far and wide.
